(Gasp!) A post without pictures!?

Being a single parent is rough!!
It's been a busy week, and I can't believe I haven't taken a single picture! My birthday was Friday... I worked, but was surprised with a nice cake from my coworkers. After work, Bryan took me to our favorite Thai Restaurant, Wild Ginger.
Bryan packed Friday night, and Saturday morning I drove him to the Marta station, where he then went to the airport to fly to Indianapolis for interviews on Monday! He got to spend some time with his parents and the boys (Simba 'Puppy', and Bailey) on Saturday, and then with Jeremy, Kristy, and I-Ry (Riley) on Sunday. He got a kick out of Riley saying, "Bry!" when she saw him at her front door!
Bryan interviewed all day today and had a nice dinner at St. Elmo's.
The girls, meanwhile, have been missing their Dad terribly, and Susie has decided to stop eating. Last night Kitty layed in front of the door, while Susie kept wanting to go out to check for him! They did OK Saturday night, and we actually all slept in on Sunday morning. I think they had decided last night that he had been gone long enough! We're all very excited to have him back home. I'm glad he was able to make a weekend of the trip, and get to spend some time with family.
That's about all for this week... more soon, with pictures!

Happy Valentine's Day!

There were several visitors on the balcony for Valentine's Day lunch today!
One of my favorites down here is the Carolina Wren... it seems to be a fairly fearless little bird.
As always, there were a few squirrels...
There's a little bird with a red head that I haven't quite identified yet... I'm going to have to get out bird book!
He visited the bird feeder, but was a bit shy.
Hope you all had a great day!

"Watch out for the man at the top of the stairs..."

I called Bryan from work last night, and he told me to "Watch out for the man at the top of the stairs" when I came home...
He meant this man!
You can see that most of the snow has melted by now... and the poor "man at the top of the stairs" has become a new object of desire for passing dogs to pee on!

Winter Wonderland...

I changed the blog background yesterday, thinking Spring was near, and now
we're under a winter storm advisory here in Atlanta!
The snow started falling early this afternoon.
And while it's not much in comparison to Indiana snow,
it has brought traffic to a crawl, and has packed the grocery stores with fearful shoppers! I think Susie was a little confused on our walk... she didn't think it was supposed to snow like this in Georgia!
The snow didn't stop my usual visitors from stopping by for a snack!
This little nuthatch likes the homemade suet!
Bryan is on call this weekend, and I am working Saturday. Hopefully this weather won't affect his drive to the hospitals tomorrow.

Superbowl Sadness and more...

Do you love using your crockpot, but hate the three-day process of scraping and soaking and cleaning that follows?
After a breakroom discussion about the mess of cleaning the crockpot, I bought some slowcooker liners!
They're great! We had some slowcooker pulled pork, and the cleanup was as easy as pulling out the old bag! (I did have to wash the inside of the crock after puncturing the bag accidentally with a fork, but it was not nearly as labor-intense as the normal crockpot cleanup!)

If you've ever met our Kitty, you know she's not your ordinary cat. She can talk for days about anything, has terrible timing, and requires lots of attention. She also meets her Dad at the door when he gets home from work for some belly-rubbing. Yes. Belly-rubbing.

Bryan will often have to sit on the floor and rub Susie's and Kitty's bellies for a few minutes.
You might remember that we got a Wii for Christmas from Bryan's Mom and Dad. We've had a lot of fun playing, and I'm quite pleased to report that I've set a new record, with nine strikes in a row, and a high score of 265! (Bryan had the previous high of 238.)
Do I have to talk about the Superbowl??
There were tears shed.
The morning started off nicely with our famous blueberry pancakes and maple butter-
Colts style.
We made some wings, quesadillas, and mozzarella sticks and stayed in to watch the game. You know how it ended... I tried to console myself with the fact that Brees is a Purdue grad. I also found out that he married a highschool classmate of mine. It's a good thing for the city of New Orleans. And there's always next year. Susie celebrated her 10th Birthday earlier this month!! She was very excited about her big day. She had some chicken breast and rice for dinner. So did Kitty... Bryan didn't want her to feel left out.
Susie finished her dinner in about 7.5 seconds...
And while Kitty didn't finish hers, she seemed content afterwards. Susie decided birthdays were so much fun, she'd like to have one everyday. Our Susie has never begged... until she tried steak, that is. I shot a little clip of Susie while her Dad was eating leftover steak. You'd think it was 110 degrees inside... she appeared very HOT! This is Susie's way of begging for food... (yes, she got some!)

Bryan has a job interview in Indianapolis on the 22nd! We'd love to be back in Indy, cheering the Colts on this fall!
